A First and the End of an Era?
Ok, I have a few minutes while the kids do their math, so thought I could get out a quick post. I know I said I'd do a "chores" post, but that will take more time than I have for now. So stay tuned for that. Meanwhile, some random thoughts:
The First. We ate on our deck last night for the first time this season. This is one of my favorite things to do in the spring/summer. Not only does it make for a fun family dinner, but My Sweetie and I can linger at the table over a cup of coffee while the kids play in the yard. Last year I bought a small table and 6 chairs at a garden store for $125. They're not fancy, but it's the best $125 I've ever spent - we use them every day when the weather's pretty. I also found this cute centerpiece on clearance. It's so pretty at night, when votive candles on the inside glimmer through the stained "glass." Coffee, candles, dinners alfresco. Hidden Art. Good times.
The End of an Era. I think my days of children's consignment sales are over. For nearly 14 years I have been a seller in a children's sale at least once a year -sometimes twice. For various reasons, I missed the spring sale this year, after gathering all the clothes and toys together. My Sweetie suggested that, given the time and energy it takes me to iron and tag, not to mention the cost of supplies and the fees that go to the owners of the sale, I might do better just donating the items and taking the tax deduction. So I did! It took me all of 10 minutes to document and photograph the items and then I took them to Good*will. I sent them out with a prayer that others would be blessed by finding nice clothes for a bargain. What a relief! I may still shop the sales once in a while, but I think I've reached a season where my time can be better spent doing something other than an entire week of washing, ironing, and tagging!

Great idea about just doing the Goodwill thing. I am having a garage sale in a couple weeks and I'm not sure it's worth all the work. We'll see.
