Open to suggestions...

History Project Day is fast approaching for Master's Academy. C (11) has chosen to build a model of the Parthenon and display his photos from our visit. Here's the dilemma... what to make it out of?

We found an intricate paper model here, but before I slap down the $$ for the kit (plus wait for shipping time) I'd love to hear suggestions on building one with some other media... sculp*ey clay, etc??? C. is very particular about it looking authentic and not like a kindergarten project. (The one thing he likes about the paper model is that the roof is removable and the statue of Athena visible.)

If you have a brilliant idea (or even a not-so-brilliant one) please comment and let me know! Thanks in advance!

While I realize that it is probably not suitable for this need, given C's love of Lego, I could not resist showing you this. See item 3.

Hi Jennifer,

I am still thinking about the post you did awhile back about how helpful your children have become with chores and wondered if you could offer me some advice in that department. Our four are 2, 4, 6 and 8. What do you have yours doing at those ages? It is really a struggle at this point just to get them to pick up toys and straighten their rooms, which I feel is really a bare minimum of what I should expect. I know I am a big part of the problem, as often I would rather do the chores myself than stay on them to do it. (This includes husband and kids, so I often feel overwhelmed.) Any thoughts? You can e-mail me at melissalester@elmore.rr.com if you have some suggestions. You seem to have things under control with 25 percent more children than I have, so that does give me hope! :)

Thanks,
Melissa
Melissa,
I will email you as soon as I get the opportunity. In the meantime, thanks for your compliment - though I don't know how much I have "under control!" In fact, I tend to be a control freak and have to "die to self" regularly and flex as the Lord is teaching me that it is His plans that matter, not mine! But I will be happy to share some thoughts on chores.
Blessings.
