A Time to Cuddle

I don't have time for distractions this week. We've got a lot of schoolwork to get through, Easter Sunday to prepare for, and the house needs some TLC. But my sweet 22-month-old KL is sick. She follows me around saying, "up" in the most pitiful voice and my fleshly self groans inwardly at having to stop what I'm doing to pick her up.

But what a hypocrite I am! In the very week I'm trying to focus my children's hearts on Jesus, I forget that He stopped what He was doing (in Mark 10) to bless the children. Mark says He was "indignant" that the disciples tried to give the kids the brush-off. I think He would be indignant with me this morning.

So with a repentant heart, I'm off to spend more time cuddling and less time worrying about what's not getting done. After all, she turns 2 in a couple of months, and before I know it, my little chick will be grown and leaving my nest.

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of God belongs to such as these. " Mark 10:14b

Oh, I soooo understand that pitiful little voice.! But ends up being such a blessing to give up our own wants/needs and "waste time" on the couch with a warm little miserable, sweet smelling (or sick smelling) blessed 'baby'. I have to remind myself that Martha was the one reprimanded for doing the dishes instead of what was really important! Good choice, Mommy!

Oh AMEN! D just wants to be held due to teething right now and that 25 lb "baby" is getting heavy ;) Great reminder to take time the way Christ did.

I often has that same groan when my littlest (or even my biggest one) needs some attention, and I am in the middle of something. Good reminder to do what's right and good and not what we want or think needs to be done.

So good to hear from you! ET keeps me updated on some of what you all are doing (when we get into curriculum discussions :) but never mentioned you had a blog. Thank you for your kind words on mine, I am still getting my feet wet in this whole thing, have not had time to really add pix and things like I want, maybe that will happen as school wraps up for the year. I will definitely check back, it is fun to see your family and what you all are doing.

so true, oh... so true...
I read this the night you posted it at near to midnight. We had a rough day and this post hit me like a ton of bricks! I went right into my son's room and snuggled up next to him...praying over him and giving him lots of love. Something I had been too busy to do much of that day. What a good reminder- thanks!
