my "rose window" - my own little morning gift from God the sunrise comes through the window in the little sitting room next to our room. often it casts a lovely rose reflection on the wall as i'm getting ready for the day. i love that it's the sun. love the colors the Artist paints, just for me. love the geometry. i tried to capture it here - took about 20 pictures experimenting with ISO, aperture, and white balance. I think this one was on an ISO of H1. whatever. it brings to mind Psalm 27. it makes me happy.
this photo is from last spring. i pulled it out today because i'm entering this post in the weekly challenge over at i heart faces, a wonderful photography blog i've discovered. the theme for this week's challenge is texture, and in this photo i deliberately let the texture of the azalea behind KL (3yo) be in focus rather than her face - my amateur attempt at artistry, i suppose. go visit this week's challenge at i heart faces for beautiful examples of texture, and maybe some inspiration. :)
i don't like this picture. wanted to take a better one with my pretty green kitchen wall as a backdrop. but keep forgetting. so here it is, this is my latest thrift store purchase - 95 cents! not sure what i'm going to use it for, but i like the material and i like the shape...
enjoying the surprise of 60* temps in January with my new (free) jog stroller (K (3) does like the stroller, just not the sun in her eyes) *check the sidebar "Nature Walk Update" for a fun experience on our latest Greenway run
sorry to post another food pic! we are on a quest around here to, as a friend says, "ban food-like substances." i couldn't find hamburger buns at the regular grocery that i could accept, and the stores with the ones i will accept are too far away. so ... i made my own! like the little red hen, i ground the flour, made the dough, and baked the bread. the fam said they like them better than storebought. happy me. :)
a dozen farm-fresh free-range eggs, gathered by M(10) herself, right out of the hens' nests. she went with a friend to an organic farm about an hour outside of town. (good field trip since her science this year is from the apologia animals series.) *those are blue , not white. not sure what kind of chicken they came from, but aren't they pretty? they're tiffany blue, M's fave shade. there were 3 blue ones, but i dropped one styling the photo. so it went in the breadmaker to become part of our dinner. i'll let ya know if it tastes any different. ;)
I have so much to say. A dozen blog posts roll around in my head: the joy (and difficulty) of my first half marathon; what I learned last year; what I hope to do better this year. Cute things the kids say and I forget before I can type them out. But I'm finding it hard to find time to sit at the computer long enough to get the thoughts out of my head and onto the blog. So I'm borrowing an idea from a blogging friend and posting a picture a day for 30 days that sums up life around here. Enjoy #1 - K (3) rocking out her broom guitar! Happy New Year!
